The final model in the original Griffith line was supposed to be the vehicle that brought the company to a new level of sports car sophistication. It certainly had the credentials— a sexy new body from Turin-based Carrozzeria Intermeccanica with long, lean lines, and a sophisticated chassis tuned by none other than road racing legend Mark Donohue. Sadly, finance troubles felled Griffith Motors after just a handful of the fabulous Griffith Series 600 had been assembled at Griffith's Long Island facility. So alluring were its Italian curves, however, that it got not just one but two additional leases on life. First as the Omega, assembled by engineering icons Holman and Moody, and later a mildly revised version of the Series 600 became the basis for the Intermeccanica Torino and subsequent Italia. Automodello™ follows up its successful Griffith Series 200 with a dazzling 1:43 replica of what many consider the ultimate Griffith design. Every luscious curve is reproduced in exacting detail; showcasing a design that many feel was years ahead of its time and its competition. So accurate is Automodello’s model that it is the only replica to carry Andrew “Jack” Griffith’s signature and personal endorsement.
